Hey, Check Out My Gnomes...

...and my cowl :) What do gnomes have to do with anything, you ask? I have no idea, but they're cool! My cowl is coming along, slowly, but surely. I've been working on it less than I'd like, due to a few other deadlines, but I will, will, will have this completed by the end of April...can you believe it's almost April?

I graciously accepted this styrofoam head from my DB for display purposes, because one can never have enough styrofoam heads...

I'm currently in search of THE perfect ribbon to thread through my eyelets placed close to the tan/ivory border. I "strategically" placed them to hold two ribbons. (The ribbon is my plan on holding up the front of the cowl to produce it's drape and keep it off of the floor!!) *grin* I'm proud of myself for at least thinking of this ahead of time :)

Hahaha..love the gnomes. They remind me of a storybook my Oma and Opa had that had tales of gnomes. The drawings in the book looked just like your gnomes. Sorry, it reminded me of that.

The cowl looks lovely.

Ohhh Brooke . . this is exquisite, honestly. Oh my gosh. This looks so delicate and so pretty. I have to write down again what those yarns are. They're natural, correct? No dye? I am completely taken by this cowl. *gasping*

It is breathtaking. I can't wait to see it all finished! Is there a lace pattern on the back? It lloks like there is a pretty texture going on back there.
I do believe we need some more pictures! =)

Well, knatty knitter figured me out!! I really have gnomes making this cowl for me...ummmm...and I live in fantasyland, well, not really, but I do get my mail there... ;p

Leslie, I am convinced that the yarn is making this project. I've never worked with yarn that feels so "alive". There really is a little bit of magic in it. It has a very soothing quality about it, and I can't recommend it high enough. I'm going to add a link to Cary's farm, for anyone who is interested in trying it.

Melanie, yup, there's more lacework on the back :) Good eye! I need to get a little bit farther down it, then I'll definitely post pics.

Thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement. This has been a total learning experience, so far :)

Another thing of beauty!

I am awed by the knitting I am seeing amongst you ladies ! It is amazing! Did you create the pattern yourself?

I too am so thrilled to see what everyone is knitting and their progress :) Yes, the pattern is being created by myself, as we speak! It's still working itself out of my head right now. I hope to have a charted pattern by the end of the KAL for anyone who is interested...
